In January 2004, Diane Hogan, co-owner of A Step Ahead Adoption Consultants met with Nancy Wielgus, , owner and jewelry designer of N’ Artwork from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was Diane’s desire to have a fundraiser for humanitarian care. After Diane saw Nancy’s work, they brainstormed the idea of creating ASA Adoption Advocacy bracelets, and the idea of all profits going to adoption advocacy groups at the end of each calendar year. In addition, they decided to give each family recognition for their adoption advocacy by adding the names of each family and/or the name of each child to the ASA website as a proud sponsor of this project.

Once plans were established, Nancy began beading 12 slim, petite style bracelets (one for each month) made with semi-precious birthstones and sterling silver rondelles, a small double foot charm (to represent ASA) and ending with a latch hook. These lovely bracelets are now available to ASA families (with a choice of charms – double foot, baby booties, heart or daisy charm) or no charm.
